Planning for the year ahead is never an easy task. Methods need to be put in place for sharing the company’s marketing strategy with all team members and keeping them on the same page. Each plan should focus purely upon the actions required for that method, where possible detailing the time involved for each action.

On the sales side, client retention refers more to the salesperson’s efforts to use the client relationship to continually check in with the client, attempt to engage them in further discussions about additional products or services they may be interested in, and seek referrals to the client’s friends and family members.

People with diabetes or consumers who are watching their weight are able to eat chocolate that is made without sugar. We should use marketing theory to inform our decisions and help us plan our strategy, and when we do that, our execution will be solid. Since different marketing tactics should be used for different customers, knowing this is essential, but too many companies guess at who their customer is rather than knowing them in depth.

Just because one marketing theory works for one company or even thousands of companies doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for another company. Throughout history, chocolate has been marketed differently to different consumer types. One of the themes behind their partnership was to create the desire within consumers that if they wore Michael Jordan’s sneakers they could play basketball or jump as high as him. It is important to note here that the retention function of a marketing department doesn’t really overlap the retention efforts of a sales team. Marketers, through the ages, have identified who their customers are, and directed their efforts at influencing their buying decisions.

Without it, no strategy will be realized, which is why it’s crazy that so many companies create a business plan and then file it away in a binder on a dusty shelf. Nike teamed up with Michael Jordan to create marketing giant. Finally, distributing a pre-recorded message makes it possible to contact hundreds and thousands of people with just a fraction of the time it would take to make personal calls.

Other tactics that companies use to shape consumers needs and wants is to use celebrities or other famous people to sell their products. Marketers and salespeople work together to determine what consumers need and how to deliver it. Sales and marketing should motivate, inspire and feed one other.

These companies also make their companies seem fun and sometimes quirky to attract children to other products they may offer. This is all part of what a consumer’s expectations on a product are, if these perceived expectations are met time after time then they become a loyal customer to that particular company.

Make all of your MLM marketing plans work in progress so that you can constantly tweak them until they are as effective as they can be. You also need to create great customer experiences with each touch point of your brand. Segmentation is another way that companies target the consumer to satisfy their needs and companies use this technique to target where they should market their products.

It is not a marketing employee’s responsibility to follow up with a salesperson’s existing customer once the lead has been handed off, nor is it their responsibility to convert a lead to a sale, “close the deal,” or make sure the client remains a client for many years.
